Plain musical theatre. Focus on responses and natural virtuosity of first go’s. Ecstatic autophony. Comfort of resounding, a responsive part of nature. Writing and recording from the start. Sounds before reflections. Adaptive composition. Ecosystem of the present song, including spatial field effects and mixing; cultural contexts; open research; and visible storage.

Singing is always the start of my healing. So I went to sing plainly in church where I sang in the choir for a few years till I was 12, with a carrier bag full of words and a cassette of audio notes.
In response to the sounds of passing traffic and birds and memories of favourite hymn tunes.

Song 4 is an in-space re-recording of edited beginnings of field-recorded song sketches made over a couple of days in central Cambridge, emphasising breath, wind and other environmental sounds before melody and rhythm get involved.

Interlude sounds: close-mic recordings of stained glass windows heating and expanding in morning sun.
